In one of the articles it mentions that the proposed spot is only 600 ft away from the former WTC's. I couldn't believe this, so I looked it up on google maps: Low and behold, it is only 552 Ft from the previous site of the Towers (164 ft on
Park Pl, 528 on W Broadway... the 552 comes from the hypotenuse of the right triangle, which has its opposite and adjacent sides formed by the two streets mentioned). It is interesting that many people do not realize how close it really is... I remember hearing from some people that it is actually 15 blocks away... obviously a gross overestimation. I wonder where it came from?

Wikipedia has a very interesting article on this, which speaks of the many controversies surrounding the so named Park51 plaza. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park51

Especially interesting in the Wiki article is the funding controversy. Imam Rauf stated that the $100 million needed for the project would come directly from American Muslims

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/editorials/money_behind_the_mosque_SZDcDNLjX4SwxHmwtES5mK

(why only Muslims if it is an "interfaith" community center???), but then told a London based Arabic newspaper (Asharq Al-Awsat) that he would seek funding from Arab and Muslim nations...
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/landmark_vote_on_ground_zero_mosque_7iWKADGQO0hZKHkpSdxYWN

Why the lies? Why the secrecy?? It is almost as if Rauf is hiding something...Inanenoreply@blogger.com
