They might as well have made it "...The young woman, who happens to be pregnant, and is about to bear a child, who, upon having said child will name him - for it is to be a male child - (did I mention she was pregnant?) Emmanuel." Very strange indeed.Inanenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5919959149255980579.post-69509717827873176012011-03-10T15:54:40.341-08:002011-03-10T15:54:40.341-08:00Offline, a comment was made to me: "Why does ...Offline, a comment was made to me: "Why does it matter if the verse was intended to mean 'young woman, pregnant' or 'virgin shall conceive'?"

I thought the answer was obvious. The prophecy of "young woman, pregnant" is quite meaningless in comparison. I do not mean to make light... but I could make that same prophecy today, and have it come true some place in the world any moment now.

Young women are pregnant every day. A virgin conceiving has only happened once.

If the Hebrew allows for an understanding of "Virgin" from the term used, and its a Dogma of our Catholic Faith... whats the problem with a translation that is actually accurate and straight forward?anonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12787815747756899970noreply@blogger.com
